Edit1 - Introduction
InphoniteVoice comes packaged with powerful tools for use in building messages. One of these tools is the
Message Text tool. This tool is the only one in InphoniteVoice's toolbox designed specifically for SMS (text) messaging and email rather than for voice messages. It provides tremendous power and flexibility when creating email messages by allowing you to choose to type and format text in a word processor-like interface, or to use the built-in HTML editor to incorporate images, tables or links in your email templates.
Edit2 - More Information
To utilize the Message Text tool, you would start by clicking the
Messages item on the InphoniteVoice tree on the left. In the list of messages that displays, you can edit an existing message or create a new one. Once you have a message open, simply click and hold the Message Text item on the right and drag it to your message canvas where you would like it to be.
When you add a Message Text item to your message in this way, a window that looks like this will open:
Notice at the bottom of the window are two tabs labelled "Editor" and "HTML". While these are fairly self-explanatory, the Editor tab is where you would simply type in and format text as desired. The HTML tab is where you would type or copy in HTML code for the building of your email.
Using the Editor
The Editor is a WYSIWYG (i.e. "what-you-see-is-what-you-get") editor. You type and format your text as desired. The way it appears on screen is how it will appear when received by the email recipient. For formatting, you can use the toolbar at the top of the window to bold or italicize text, add bullets or numbering, or change the text orientation. You can also change the font or the color of the text.
Further, you can add "fields" to the email, using the Editor. For example, using the second toolbar at the top, you can add information about the appointment or the email recipient. The dropdown on the left side of the toolbar allows you to choose a category (e.g. Contact, Appointment, etc.), and the dropdown next to it allows you to choose a field within that category. So, fields such as the
First Name would be in the
Contact category since they pertain to a person, while the appointment date would be in the
Appointment category.
To add a field to the email, simply place the cursor in the editor where you would like the field to appear, and then select your Category and Field and click
Insert. This will insert something like
%=Contact.FirstName% into your email. A generic, completed email might look something like this:
Once you have the email formatted as you wish, simply click
OK to close the Message Text window and return to your message.
