Edit1 - Introduction
InphoniteVoice comes packaged with powerful tools for use in building messages. One of these tools is the
Message Text tool. This tool is the only one in InphoniteVoice's toolbox designed specifically for SMS (text) messaging and email rather than for voice messages. It provides tremendous power and flexibility when creating email messages by allowing you to choose to type and format text in a word processor-like interface, or to use the built-in HTML editor to incorporate images, tables or links.
Edit2 - More Information
To utilize the Message Text tool, you would start by clicking the
Messages item on the InphoniteVoice tree on the left. In the list of messages that displays, you can edit an existing message or create a new one. Once you have a message open, simply click and hold the Message Text item on the right and drag it to your message canvas where you would like it to be.
When you add a Message Text item to your message in this way, a window that looks like this will open:
This window automatically opens when you release the mouse button, allowing you to edit the Message Text item. Notice at the bottom of the window are two tabs labelled "Editor" and "HTML". While these are fairly self-explanatory, the Editor tab is where you would simply type in and format text as desired. The HTML tab is where you would type or copy in HTML code for the building of your email.
Using the HTML Editor
The second tab at the bottom of the Message Text window is the "HTML" tab. This is our built-in HTML editor, allowing you to create more complex emails than with the standard editor. In this editor, you can use HTML to create tables, insert images, create hyperlinks, or do about anything you would do with any HTML document. You can even use CSS to create styles for use in your HTML code. If there is nothing typed into the "Editor" tab, the window will open as a blank slate allowing you to enter your code.
(While the purpose of this article is not to teach one how to do HTML tagging, there are many online resources available for guidance. One of the most comprehensive can be found
here.)

Tips and Tricks
There are many things you can do with the HTML editor. Here are a few tips and tricks you might find useful:
- The flow of the code used should have a style section at the top (where you define the text styles to be used), followed by the body section.
- In some cases it may be helpful to build a prototype of your email using the RTF editor, then switch to the HTML tab to fine tune the code. InphoniteVoice will convert text typed in the RTF editor to HTML, allowing you to see and edit the generated code. This may be particularly helpful when your email includes fields such as First Name or Appointment Date.
- As there is not HTML "previewer" built into InphoniteVoice, you may wish to build your message in a text editor that has this functionality and then paste the code into the HTML editor. Of course, you may send a test email to yourself, using the Save and Test button on the toolbar when viewing the message.
